My dad awoken from his sicken bed and He called her name
She still haunts his dreams… as he longs for her at night
He still loves her even though… it’s been 40 years
But no one answered his call… she wasn’t there

His life has seen… so many ups and downs
It has not always… been so very kind
For every step he gained… there was a couple back
But he always remained the same

They fell in love… when they were in high school
They Were married… before the term was through
I came along… when they were both 18
And life… would never be the same for them

But no one answered his call she wasn’t there

Their differences… far outweighed their sameness
And Even though they wanted the same things out of life
They tried 3… times… to make their marriage workout
And finally, called it quits, 40 years ago
