PTSD – Lyrics by Jane Shields – Melody & Music by Mike Terry 8/21/2018

The fuse inside his broken mind
Grows shorter day by day
The flashbacks keep him in rewind
He can't go on this way

The sounds of battle sear his ears
While sulpher burns his tongue
His cries and shouts now spliced with tears
As to the ground he's flung

There's no let up, and no respite
Flashbacks, nightmares, day and night

And his Sergeant yells "Stand fast and fight"
As Brothers fall to his left and right
Crimson tides run beneath his boots
While he holds his ground and bravely shoots

Another day in hell goes by
He's barely holding on
He begs the Lord to let him die
So suffering is gone

There's no let up, and no respite
Flashbacks, nightmares, day and night

And his Sergeant yells "Stand fast and fight"
As Brothers fall to his left and right
Crimson tides run beneath his boots
While he holds his ground and bravely shoots

He's curled into a tightened ball
His hands upon his head
Nobody understands at all
He wishes he was dead

Somebody needs to make a stand
These men ALL need a helping hand
I'm pleading with our Government
Make LAW The Forces Covenant

There's no let up, and no respite
Flashbacks, nightmares, day and night

And his Sergeant yells "Stand fast and fight"
As Brothers fall to his left and right
Crimson tides run beneath his boots
While he holds his ground and bravely shoots

There's no let up, and no respite
Flashbacks, nightmares, day and night
No serving Armed Forces, member or Veteran
Should ever have to suffer alone with PTSD
